The Director, Strategy and Business Development is responsible for developing strategic business partnerships to accelerate business growth, identifying and modeling new business opportunities, and being a key resource for the company’s executive leadership team, Weather Group (The Weather Channel and Local Now) is very active in creating market-leading and innovative products and experiences for our audiences and this role is very active in supporting this strategy. This position is based in Atlanta, Georgia.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Identify and effectively evaluate new business opportunities, analyze competitors, recommend strategies and lead proposal/face-to-face negotiations to create successful partnerships.
Build strategic relationships with emerging and incumbent businesses focused on content, advertisers and enabling consumer applications that complement or enhance local commerce and/or lifestyle experiences.
Collaborate with the Content and Product teams to establish and deliver on a growth strategy for online video content distribution and consumption.
Source and create relationships for complementary content that provides context to the weather experience online to include news and lifestyle and
Effectively join forces and proactively communicate with internal partners including Product, Development/IT, Ad Sales, Marketing,
Content/Programming, Affiliate Distribution, Legal, Finance.
Identify and foster cross-platform opportunities for distribution, content acquisition and revenue · growth
Forge and nurture executive relationships across top partners, and effectively represent TWC in the active and evolving Silicon Valley start-up environment.
Work with and in conjunction with the broader Allen Media team on corporate development initiatives.
Education, Experience, Certification Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field. MBA preferred.
Three to five years business development experience.
Strong experience and knowledge in the digital, television, cable and media industry.
Willing to travel once pandemic travel restrictions are eliminated.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills, plus the drive and initiative to overcome obstacles in a new and rapidly changing space.
Experience working with and executing partnerships with senior executives in large organizations as well as entrepreneurs in emerging start-ups.
Strong network of existing relationships with business development, product and/or marketing contacts in applicable markets.
Strong industry knowledge and experience.
