Full Job Description
The University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) invites applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Economics beginning Fall, 2022. The Economics program is in the Department of Decision Sciences, Economics, Finance, and Marketing in the AACSB-accredited College of Business and offers a minor in Economics as well as required business core classes for various majors in the college.
The applicant is expected to teach three courses per semester (Fall and Spring) of mostly undergraduate classes but may have the opportunity to teach graduate classes as part of the MBA program.
1. Completed doctorate, though an ABD in the field of Economics (with anticipated completion of degree within first academic year) will be considered.
2. Evidence of excellence in teaching and/or the potential for excellence in teaching at a four-year regional university which serves primarily non-traditional commuter students.
3. Evidence of ability to maintain AACSB academic qualifications – primarily by showing potential to develop and maintain a strong research agenda producing roughly three peer-reviewed journal articles every five years.
4. Demonstrated track record of research or research potential to complement their teaching interests.
Experience teaching macroeconomics and/or monetary theory and show potential for developing courses in macroeconomics and monetary theory to assist in developing an economics major.
Common research interests and/or the potential to collaborate in research with other members of the department and university.
