Section Manager-Finance (University Student Housing)
University Student Housing
Manages a section in a department that has institutional oversight. Plans, organizes and develops goals and procedures for the section. Represents the section to administrators, outside agencies and others on relevant matters. Supervises subordinate staff.
Finance: Oversee and monitor finance functions to ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, institutional policy, and department policy. Review and/or process accounting transactions and monitor accounting records for compliance and accuracy. Prepare monthly financial reports and assist supervisor with annual financial reports and ad hoc projections/reports as needed. Assist supervisor with development and monitoring of annual budget.
Student Accounts: Process, review, monitor and reconcile student account items to ensure accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and conformance to all governing regulation and institutional and departmental policy.
Review/Analysis: Research and perform complex review and analysis for tasks and projects as assigned to ensure accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and conformance to all governing regulation and institutional and departmental policy.
Customer Service/Training: Respond to campus and departmental inquires and proactively communicate issues to supervisor. Conduct and/or attend meeting as needed for campus/department training and assistance
Supervisory: Direct, coordinate and evaluate the activities of staff engaged in the management of department finances. Contribute to the professional development of staff supervised and contribute to the development and implementation of institutional and department policy and procedures.
Bachelor’s degree required plus four years supervisory experience.
Any business/accounting professional designations such as: CPA, MBA (or Masters degree), CGFM.
Demonstrated competency in verbal and written communication, time management, problem-solving and decision-making.
Ability to learn and adapt to department and university software and programs. Ability to organize, prioritize tasks and process critical work with great attention to detail.
Ability to lead and motivate a team. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Previous experience managing a diverse group of employees.
Knowledge and practice in TTU software and programs (Banner, Cognos, BRS, Gateway, ePrint, etc.) and TTU policies and procedures.
