Internship Description

SBTDC Graduate Technology Commercialization Summer Consulting Program

Each summer, the North Carolina Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) offers consulting opportunities to qualified graduate students from universities in North Carolina.

The SBTDC’s Graduate Technology Commercialization Summer Consulting Program links you with growing technology firms that need specialized hands-on business skills and expertise to help their ventures advance to the next level. The program enhances your educational experience by working with the SBTDC to provide consulting assistance to these select clients.

As part of the our internship program, you will have the opportunity to work with two technology-based clients during the 11 week internship. You will have the support of the SBTDC’s Technology Commercialization Services team throughout the program through one-on-one mentoring and group meetings as you provide valuable business assistance to these clients.

Typical Projects Include:

·        Financial analysis

·        Valuations leading to equity investments

·        Preparation of early-stage business plans

·        Competitive analyses

·        Evaluation of alternative business models

·        Market research

·        Consultation with joint venture partners

Small businesses that participate in the program are based in North Carolina and relocation is not required.  A wide spectrum of industries are represented that often include biotech, pharma, materials, software, medical devices and more.
