Job Purpose
Research and respond to inquiries from energy service companies (ESCOs), brokers, consultants, regulatory personnel, and any other party associated with the Competitive Energy Markets industry; review credit worthiness, invoicing, and payment processing for ESCOs; and lead compliance and audit initiatives.
Key Accountabilities

Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders to highlight regulatory changes or changes to policy that may affect them, share best practices, develop procedures, and ensure mandates are met in a timely manner.

Keep regulators up to date with relevant National Grid policies, processes, and programs. Further, implement any regulatory orders as they pertain to Customer Choice.

Prepare and write documentation to present to stakeholders with the aim of informing them of the team’s processes, risks, controls, and other relevant information.

Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to obtain and share information that will benefit National Grid.

Design and implement new processes or policies to ensure work processes are compliant with National Grid’s policies and regulatory requirements.

Review credit worthiness for ESCOs periodically to ensure the business is protected from financial risk.

Manage day-to-day relationship with ESCOs.

Research and analyze key themes from a wide range of data sources to identify how different scenarios may impact the business.

Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better and more efficiently.

Undertake miscellaneous ad hoc projects as requested to support the Customer Billing function to meet its overall objectives.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience or equivalent total work experience; MBA or advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics or other business disciplines preferred

Expert within fields of billing, credit, and/or compliance

Able to define and manage work of others through project assignments

Knowledge of relevant industry practices and legislation. Knowledge of current trends within the industry and developments in legislation or regulation

Knowledge of National Grid’s business operations, company policies and practices

Knowledge of division policies, processes and fields of work.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access), Oracle, and SAP
-
Proficient in relational database querying techniques (SQL) preferred

Proficient in managing project teams and projects independently
