Internship Title: Procurement Intern
Hourly Wage: $18.209

Description of Roles/Responsibilities: Assist buyers in the development and the administration of an Invitation to Bid and Contracts. Conduct research, and provide assistance in the development of specifications, ensuring completeness, and compliance with statutes, and policies and procedures. This may include meeting with agency subject matter experts, and legal counsel. Assist in reviewing bids for compliance with specifications, and terms and conditions. Reviewing and analyzing data received from contractors requesting price changes. May assist in establishing and maintaining contract files, including, addenda, amendments, and renewals, and other associated documents. May participate in pre-bid conferences. May assist with contract management functions. Basic knowledge of procurement practices, ability to read and understand statutes, policies and procedures. Ability to analyze and document information to draw conclusions and solve problems. Possess and demonstrate effective oral, written and listening skills. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. Ability to maintain professional working relationships with employees, customers, and vendors. Basic computer skills including use of MS Word, Excel and Power Point
Detailed Description of Proposed Project(s): Assist in the development of Invitations to Bid. May assist buyer in the administration of an Invitation to Bid requiring the formal competitive bid process, including but not limited to, assistance in the development of specifications, responding to question/answer periods, bid opening, reviewing bids for compliance to specifications, terms and conditions, etc., assisting in the development of the final contract. May assist with contract management responsibilities.
Assist buyers in the review of agency requests for direct purchase authority for purchase requests of less than $25,000.
Intern will gain an understanding of state statutes, and to apply these statutes in the procurement process.
