POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Plant Operations Finance Lead will be our key resource supporting our manufacturing plants, the plant managers, and our Operations team including Continuous Improvement, Quality, and Supply Chain. This position reports to the Operational Accounting Director and provides financial analysis and reporting for our three manufacturing locations. Partners with plant management and operations for all finance/accounting related topics, proactively engaging the manufacturing sites on risks & opportunities and driving process improvements and efficiencies.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reporting

    • Prepare the plant Business Review Letters in preparation for monthly reviews and communicate financial results to the plant and corporate management in accordance with corporate format and time requirements

    • Ensure plant month end journal entries and accounting responsibilities are completed timely

    • Track and validate Total Cost Productivity for the plants

    • Review and maintain fixed asset reporting and track monthly Capex management to plan

    • Prepare ad hoc reports and special projects as requested

  • Analysis

    • Support Plant Leadership with analysis of financial data and convert that data into actions so the financial impacts of operational decisions are understood and executed.

    • Analyze and be able to explain the different variances including direct labor variance, OH variances, material usage variances etc.

    • Support corporate analysis of potential excess and obsolete inventory items

    • Understand the costing structure methodology and perform cost analysis as needed

    • Review all Bill of Material and routing changes for cost implications

    • Coordinate and guide the capital request process providing meaningful insight into the financial viability of proposed projects

  • Budgeting

    • Complete the annual plant operating budget which includes development of cost standards, reviewing and adjusting rates and updating product standard costs

    • Assist in creating the capital expenditure budget

  • Partnering

    • Be a member of the plant management team and actively participate in driving a culture of safety, quality and customer responsiveness

    • Provide education and mentoring to plant personnel regarding financial internal controls, systems and processes assuring the safeguard of physical and virtual assets

    • Serve as information champion for the site by developing/providing systemic tools to drive a performance culture and continuous improvement

    • Mentor non-financial managers regarding the cost and recovery of expenses assuring they understand manufacturing key performance indicators.

  • Controls

    • Ensure compliance with BrassCraft and Masco Accounting and Financial Reporting Policies and Procedures

    • Observe monthly inventory cycle counts and ensure accuracy of the physical inventory and reported results. Investigate and explain book to physical adjustments

    • Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

    • Prepare supporting schedules for external audits

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A 4-year degree in Accounting or related field

  • Minimum 5 years’ progressive experience in a manufacturing accounting environment

  • Cost accounting experience

  • Strong Excel Skills

  • Ability to travel 30%-50% of the time (Post Covid) (if located at a location travel would be limited)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBA, CPA or CMA

  • Experience with JDE and Hyperion preferable

  • Experience with Stratum BI tools

Proficiencies:

  • The ideal candidate will be a goal driven, self-starter, driven towards continuous improvement.

  • Ability to manage large data sets to extract insights from the data.
