For over 22 years, Eurofins has been developing, manufacturing, and marketing rapid environmental, food, and life sciences test systems, including immunochemistry products and methods, to meet the testing needs of research and industry. We are constantly collaborating with global government, industry, and academic leaders to develop innovative methods and applications.
Strong growth is allowing Eurofins to expand our team with a need for a Business Unit Manager – Microbiology Media. In this role, the Business Unit Manager – Microbiology Media is primarily accountable for helping set the strategic direction for the business, while managing the day-to-day operations. Eurofins Technologies Media rapidly growing product portfolio includes dehydrated culture media and prepared liquid media, targeting key food, environmental, pharmaceutical and clinical applications.
To be successful, the Business Unit Manager – Microbiology Media will partner with the Eurofins Technologies (ET) global/regional management team and Eurofins laboratories to develop and implement a plan to grow the ET Media business. Reporting to the President, this role is responsible for sales (direct and through channel), operations and quality control/assurance for the ET Media business.
Responsibilities Include:
- Working with Eurofins Technologies management, develop the strategic vision for the ET Media business.
- Manage the day-to-day operations, overseeing business development, manufacturing and quality control/assurance teams.
- Develop business budget on annual basis and manage the business within that budget, reporting results and analyzing deviations to senior leadership.
- Develop the go-to-market strategy, product portfolio and sales strategies, ensuring that adequate resources are available to meet business goals.
- Lead organization in developing and adhering to a quality management system that meets ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 requirement; lead regulatory and customer audits with QA Director.
- Serve as primary contact for Intercompany (ICO) businesses, providing subject matter expertise to support the business relationship.
- Work with Media Business Development manager to develop and implement sales and marketing plans, defining metrics and reporting results to plan.
- Demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively with all Eurofins personnel to achieve global/regional objectives through the communication of successful tactics and recommendations for continuous improvements in procedures, strategies, and specific processes.
- Participate on cross-functional product launch teams. Work closely with the other Eurofins Technologies sales and marketing team members to gather and share best practice information
- Actively participate in all training sessions and demonstrate proficiency by testing or other means as assigned at session completion.
- Manage administrative duties as assigned: monitoring expenses to budget (free goods/samples), timely administrative and call reporting, funnel and competitive data entries, use and maintenance of Company assets and adhering to OHSA and Universal Lab precautions, as applicable, and all consistent with Eurofins Company policy.
- Respond to problems or opportunities which arise in account either by securing the assistance and support from others in the organization or by personal action.
Qualifications
- Experience in the biotechnology/microbiology field with progressive levels of leadership responsibilities.
- BA/BS in life sciences (biology, biochemistry, microbiology) required; Advanced degree in sciences and/or MBA preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a business P&L.
- Must be self-motivated to succeed and operate effectively without extensive support or close supervision from the President.
- Computer proficiency is required, including skills with the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Experience with CRM Software (Maximizer, SalesForce.com, etc.) preferred.
- Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of current U.S./Global microbiological monitoring/testing trends that can be integrated into business strategies.
- Demonstrated analytical thinking abilities with financial orientation applicable to contract proposals and profitability, budget, and expense management.
- Ability to adapt to changing markets and global/regional conditions while maintaining all objectives and/or goals.
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently and strategically to achieve individual and business goals.
- Proven ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as purchase agreements, financial reports, professional journals, package inserts, technical procedures, and government regulations.

SALARY RATE
$150-175K/yr total compensation
