The Walt Disney Company’s Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED) is a new, global business segment for The Walt Disney Company that is responsible for all monetization of content—both distribution and ad sales—and oversees the operations of the Company’s streaming services, including Disney+ (including Star and Disney+ Hotstar internationally), Hulu, and ESPN+ and domestic broadcast and cable television networks. DMED brings together the Company’s best-in-class product, technology, and commercialization teams together into one global organization, with the goal of expanding the footprint of Disney’s world-class content and beloved brands and delivering highly-personalized entertainment experiences to diverse consumers around the world. DMED works in close collaboration with Disney’s Studio, General Entertainment, and Sports content creation teams on programming and marketing for the streaming services and networks.”
The DMED business is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst, Digital Ad Sales to join the team for cross portfolio ad sales finance support across cable properties Freeform, Disney Channels, FX, National Geographic and DDN, reporting to the Manager, Finance. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the newest growth segment for the company. The team works closely with Disney’s Ad Sales Revenue and Yield Management (RYM), Research, and Technology teams to deliver strategic, financial and operational goals of the business.
This individual will collaborate with the Research, RYM, Business Development, and Data Platforms teams to support the development and implementation of forecasting and planning tools and provide all measurement and reporting related to the Ad Sales business. The Senior Financial Analyst will prepare strategic financial plans and provide KPIs for key forecast periods (annual budget, long-range plan, and quarterly forecasts) for the Digital line of business. He/She will contribute to recurring deliverables including Ad Sales Pacing, Rate/Volume analysis, and Forecast/Plan modeling. He/She will contribute analysis and insights into digital OI growth initiatives such as programmatic, advanced audience targeting, and inventory optimization.
This role relies heavily on a working knowledge of the ad sales business and the department’s digital reporting systems. A strong analytical and systems reporting background is necessary.
Prepare quarter-end reporting, forecasts, annual operating plan (AOP), long-range plan (LRP) and variance analysis for all components of digital ad revenue including key metrics for management. Coordinate data for weekly pacing reports.
Provide day-to-day support, data and inventory analysis, data reconciliation, insight to third-party costs and ad hoc requests for digital and programmatic revenue channels for all stakeholders.
Assist with the development and maintenance of reporting tools and financial models.
Support portfolio-wide business reviews and digital revenue growth initiatives
Provide insight into trends and identify risks and opportunities via in-depth data analysis using various reporting tools and business knowledge in collaboration with segment finance teams. Partner with various groups including Disney Ad Sales leadership and Research to measure ad performance and make recommendations to influence the direction of the business.
Minimum of 3-5 years in a corporate finance / business analytics role (ad sales experience is a plus)
Advanced Excel abilities (Nested statements, pivot tables, charting, combining functions like Index, Match, Offset and Indirect)
Demonstrated experience working closely with information systems and/or strong ability to quickly learn new information systems (primarily Business Objects, Google Ad Manager, Operative and Tableau)
Experience in SAP, COGNOS, or similar financial reporting tool
Strong ability to extract key information and transition seamlessly from explaining micro details to communicating how they impact the big picture
Acute attention to detail and aptitude for troubleshooting data discrepancies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics
