Full Job Description
This position is to serve within the Forestland Conservation Division as the primary source of forest utilization and marketing information. This includes the collection, interpretation and distribution of data concerning forest resources availability, harvesting and processing technology, primary and secondary producers, tax collections and loggers. The position is to build and expand upon the Department’s knowledge base of traditional and emerging products, markets and ecosystem services and leads efforts to create awareness through education of partners, businesses and staff. The position is to seek innovative ways to utilize current forest resources to enhance and attract new business to support the Commonwealth’s #3 economic industry. This position will also lead agency efforts with supporting workforce development programs and strengthening our staffs ability to manage our forest resources to meet the needs of future industries through novel, sound practices of forest management. This position will lead efforts to diversify market strategy providing results that improve upon forest health through feeding multiple competitive markets by increasing raw product demand. Grant acquisition, management and reporting, marketing of forest products and oversight of up to 3 individuals is required.
Undergraduate education in forestry, natural resources, forest products, business, or marketing.
Masters degree in forestry, natural resources, forest products, business administration or marketing.
Project oversight, supervisory experience and/or business development. Some overnight and international travel.
