Finance Manager, Investment Optimization and Analytics: AXP Unit Coverage – Technology Finance
American Express Technology is a critical Enterprise function, serving as the backbone of all we do: from providing the underlying infrastructure of the company to building core products and services we deliver to our customers. The Technology organization has dramatically changed over the last few years, moving from a waterfall operation to an agile model of working. As Technology evolves its operating model, Finance will also adapt accordingly to best position the organization in supporting American Express businesses. The newly formed Technology Finance Investment Optimization & Analytics team was established to create enterprise value through data-driven insights and analytics of Technology investments, enabling effective trade-offs, business decisions, and strategic growth.
This B35 Finance Manager role will be part of the team focusing on the Strategic Decision Support for Technology Investments, specifically covering a variety of AXP Units.
Key responsibilities will include:

Establish, own, and drive both AXP Unit relationships (Business Partners) and Technology relationships (Technology Partners), bringing harmonization, alignment, and financial consistency for technology development investments

Synchronize efforts to ensure goals, processes, and visions are achieved across AXP Units and Technology, toggling between multiple organizations and operating models

Provide support and transparency into investments to the broader Finance organization (LFOs, BU FP&A, Tech Finance)

Leverage newly built tools and capabilities to track investment spend for specific AXP Units, and articulate both the business and technology story to various partners.

Provide thought leadership and drive the linkage of capacity management efforts with financial planning efforts, finding ways to improve processes and connectivity between teams
The incumbent will need to work across a matrix of stakeholders – technology, finance, product teams, etc. to ensure proper change management and alignment for this new function.
Minimum Qualifications
-
4+ years of Finance experience
-
Expertise in planning and forecasting methodologies

Process optimization experience and understanding of optimization methodology
-
Strong project management experience
-
Passion for developing and driving partnerships across multiple functions across the enterprise

Strong working proficiency of Excel, Word, PowerPoint required

Understanding / working knowledge of Oracle, TM1, Hyperion Essbase, and other financial tools

MBA/CPA or equivalent preferred
