Role Summary:
Northern Trust Asset Management is a multi-asset class investment manager offering a broad range of investment solutions. The primary focus of this role will be to support the Portfolio Management teams in the overall management of their accounts and to provide dedicated “front line” support to allow them to focus on Investment Management and Trade Execution. Functions will include Trade Monitoring, Cash Monitoring, Position Monitoring, Counterparty and Venue Management, Account Setup and Maintenance, Corporate Actions Input and Responses, Exception Resolution, Performance Attribution Reporting, Custody FX instruction, Transaction Cost chargeback. Knowledge of investments, including terminology, instruments and general industry practices is required. Strong analytical and communication skills are required to research and resolve queries and issues. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently in a time sensitive environment
Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary day to day support contact for Portfolio Managers

Daily review of positions, market values and cash to validate accuracy. Investigate any inaccuracies identified and their impact on Portfolio Managers, and coordinate directly with Reconciliation team to resolve

Monitor trades originated by the Front Office to ensure timely matching, confirmation and reporting. Work with Trade Settlements team to address any trade discrepancies uncovered during the matching process.

Serve as the liaison between the portfolio management and outsourced teams to resolve any data or processing issues

Ensure the timely and accurate setup of new accounts on investment management systems coordinating with the New Account Opening team

Work as part of a global team with members based in London, Chicago, Hong Kong and India
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

Analytical skills to resolve and research queries and issues

Good verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge of securities markets and Portfolio Management
-
Proven understanding of the trading and settlement life cycle for equities, fixed income, futures and FX
-
Strong MS-Excel skills
-
Understanding of corporate actions
-
Experience with Blackrock Aladdin highly preferred; also knowledge of Bloomberg, FxAll and key NT Systems (e.g. Charles River, Eagle, IHS Markit) beneficial

Good Process and procedure development skills
Necessary Experience and Education:

A university degree and/or 3-5 years of relevant experience in investment management industry or investment operations role. MBA /CFA, or working to achieve, preferred
