JOB SUMMARY
The Manager, Global Quality, Data Strategy & Analytics is part of the Global Quality (GQ) team, which works to drive the guest experience and deliver on-strategy hotels. The Data Strategy & Analytics team within Global Quality plays a critical role as a strategic partner and advisor to both the Global Quality Audit & Accountability team and to the Global Quality Platforms & Performance team. This position will build and develop capabilities for sophisticated data analysis and visualization of quality data – including threshold analysis, Key Performance Indicator (KPI) deep dives, cross functional metric correlation analyses, and statistical analysis. Data for analysis will be primarily collected and stored within a dedicated Global Quality Structured Query Language (SQL) data warehouse with pipelines to various internal/external data streams. Their work will include project-based analyses, as well as supporting the development of ongoing monitoring capabilities globally for quality metrics.
The Manager, Global Quality brings a strategic consulting mindset, with the ability to skillfully collaborate on projects and execute on discrete objectives. They are proficient in data analysis and data visualization, and have familiarity with Tableau/PowerBI, as well as an understanding of SQL, relational databases, database join structure, and statistical analysis. They are interested in the mechanics of hotel operations and can learn their way around Marriott systems. They are eager to work directly on projects to drive hotel improvement and delivery of the guest experience.
The primary job responsibilities are:
- Data Analysis work supporting the analytical vision of Global Quality and the structural execution of Global Quality programs. Examples include: Tableau dashboard development around operational and performance metrics, ad hoc analyses centered around critical Marriott initiatives, and strategically planning database development to prepare for analysis.
- Building relationships and connectivity with teams internal (Audit & Accountability Team and Platforms & Performance Team) and external to Global Quality. Discovering and leveraging internal and third-party data sources such as Marriott’s Modern Data Platform, Medallia, Oasis, etc.
- Contributing to scheduled and ad hoc presentations and reports based on work requested from leadership. Examples might include providing updated analyses & dashboards for monthly or quarterly reports, and creating decks for review meetings with executives, as well as regional and brand leaders.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
Required
- 4-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a related field appropriate to work of the position
- 3+ years of experience in data analysis role, including:
- Data Visualization
- Data Analysis
- Performance Measurement
- BI Tool Dashboard Development
- Understanding of relational databases and join construction
- Understanding of Statistical Analysis (Hypothesis testing, Regression Analyses, etc)
- Tools Knowledge:
- Excel analytical skills at an advanced level
- Experience using Tableau and PowerBI
- Experience using SQL, Snowflake
- Concise, organized written communication and presentation skills (Microsoft PPT), and able to synthesize and summarize data effectively
Preferred
- MBA or post-graduate degree a plus
- Experience within lodging/hospitality industries, retail, real estate and/or other travel sectors
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- High degree of initiative and personal ownership
- Time-management skills and ability to prioritize in a changing environment
- Strong interpersonal skills: ability to manage relationships with senior management, functional departments, vendors/consultants, and internal/external customers (brand, ops, continent)

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Global Quality Program Support
- Development of best-in-class data visualization and data analysis
- Analyzing and distributing key performance metrics in an easy-to-use format allowing for actionable insight
- Support team data steward by providing table/view requirements needed for analysis as well as the enhancement of automated data sourcing to the GQ Data Warehouse
- Analysis of brand standard audit results, guest satisfaction survey results, escalation activities and results, and other data in the Global Quality Program to provide scheduled and ad hoc reporting for above property leaders
- Development and adjustment of thresholds related to performance improvement data
- Partners with GQ Audit & Accountability team to reviews results of performance improvement activities and recommend adjustments
- Partners with GQ Platforms & Performance team to support technical processes that aid efficiency in data analysis and visualization
- Stays current on external trends and capabilities in measurement, analysis, and reporting
- Assists in development and delivery of presentations for audiences including Marriott International senior leadership, Continent Lodging Services, Brand, Disciplines, owners, and franchisees
- Development and validating of hypotheses and analytical approaches to understand large sets of performance data, helping us refine our approach to hotel operational performance improvement
- Assists Global Quality Data Strategy & Analytics team in additional projects and programs as needed
